In samenwerking met WP5 van het Europese INDICATE-consortium en het team van EIT Health organiseerde Philogirl op 5 februari 2026 een intensieve hackathon over federated ICU-data. De locatie: Amsterdam, als onderdeel van het ESICM Intensive Care Innovation Forum 2026.

INDICATE is een Europees project, medegefinancierd door de EU, dat werkt aan een veilige infrastructuur voor ICU-data. De vraag aan Philogirl: organiseer een dag waarop clinici, engineers, data scientists en startups uit het INDICATE- en EIT Health-netwerk samen concrete oplossingen bouwen voor twee van de grootste uitdagingen op dit vlak.

De uitdaging was groot. Niet alleen qua inhoud, want thema’s als federated learning, de AI Act, en equitable AI-modellen zijn geen gemakkelijke materie, maar ook qua opzet. Een hackathon vraagt om een zorgvuldig opgebouwd programma: van inspirerende keynotes en use case-presentaties, via een intensieve hack-sessie met mentoren, tot pitches voor een vakkundige jury aan het einde van de dag.

De twee centrale thema’s van de hackathon waren:

• Topic 1 – Equitable AI Model Performance Across Diverse European ICU Populations. Expert speaker was dr. Stefan Buijsman, Associate Professor Responsible AI aan de TU Delft en lid van de INDICATE Ethics Advisory Board.
• Topic 2 – Value-based Proposition & Long-term Sustainability. Jan van den Brand (Technical Lead INDICATE) en Hayley Avery (Deputy Director EIT Health Belgium-Nederland) namen de deelnemers mee in dit vraagstuk.

Paul Hilders, PhD Candidate aan Amsterdam UMC, presenteerde de use case rond een virtuele digitale tweeling voor mechanische beademing – een concreet voorbeeld van wat federated data mogelijk maakt voor patiëntenzorg op de IC.

De jury bestond uit vier experts: dr. Michel van Genderen (Intensivist Erasmus MC en INDICATE Principal Investigator), prof. dr. Maurizio Cecconi (Anesthesioloog en IC-specialist, Humanitas Research Hospital Milaan), dr. Stefan Buijsman (TU Delft Digital Ethics Centre) en dr. Paul Elbers (Intensivist en Associate Professor Amsterdam UMC).

Zes teams pitchten hun oplossingen aan het einde van de dag. Naast een juryprijs was er ook een publieksprijs.

Our work for ESCH-R goes well beyond organising events. We manage the website, write and design the newsletter, create social media content, and help translate complex scientific work into clear and accessible communication for a wider audience. We also take care of the full production of the ESCH-R podcast – from planning and recording to editing and distribution.

The ESCH-R Science Day is one of the highlights of the consortium’s year. We have organised this annual meeting twice. The first edition took place at UMC Utrecht, the second edition in 2026 at Utrecht University Hall – both bringing together researchers, PhD candidates, clinical partners and industry representatives for a full day of keynote presentations, in-depth case studies and open exchange. The programme of the 2026 edition covered topics such as circular infusion bags and the material footprint of TAVI procedures, and closed with an interactive ESCH-R Café that created space for connection and new collaborations. The Science Days are organized in close cooperation with the PI of the project, the projectmanager and the PhD’s.

De Nationale Coalitie Financiële Gezondheid (NCFG) bracht meer dan vijftig publieke en private partijen samen rond één gezamenlijk doel: de financiële gezondheid van werknemers en klanten structureel verbeteren. Een coalitie van die omvang vraagt om consistente communicatie, een herkenbaar gezicht naar buiten en events die dat verhaal keer op keer waarmaken.

Van het lanceringsevent bij ABN AMRO in 2022 tot de laatste netwerkbijeenkomst voor de fusie met SchuldenlabNL – philogirl was van het begin af aan betrokken als vaste communicatie- en eventpartner van de NCFG. We werkten structureel mee aan het beheer van de website, de nieuwsbrief en de publicaties, en namen de volledige organisatie van de events op ons.

Op 28 en 29 januari 2026 vond bij KPN in Rotterdam de SFGN-hackathon ‘Schuldhulp voor iedereen’ plaats. Bijna 100 deelnemers uit publieke, private en maatschappelijke organisaties werkten twee dagen intensief samen aan concrete oplossingen: hoe kunnen mensen met geldzorgen eerder, eenvoudiger en effectiever geholpen worden?

In nauwe samenwerking met het interne team van de SFGN en KPN Rotterdam verzorgde philogirl de volledige eventorganisatie – van de eerste uitnodiging tot de ontvangst op de dag zelf.

At the request of the Pandemic & Disasters Preparedness Center (PDPC), philogirl delivered a full-day hands-on media training as part of the Winter School 2026. The training was designed for researchers who want to communicate their work confidently to journalists and the general public.

Working alongside a reporter and a cameraman, participants practiced the complete arc of a media moment: from defining a clear key message before the interview, to bridging difficult questions on camera, to reviewing their own footage immediately afterwards. The combination of real interview pressure and direct feedback on camera made the learning stick.

Topics covered included how to translate complex science into plain language, how to handle questions about risk or uncertainty without overstepping the evidence, and how to stay grounded – physically and mentally – in front of a camera.

In February 2026, United Imaging Healthcare Europe brought together partners from across Europe for a four-day international sales event in Rotterdam. The event marked an important milestone following the establishment of the company’s European headquarters in the city and a year of significant growth across the region.

Philogirl was responsible for the full concept, organisation and execution of the event – from programme development and international communication to logistics, partner engagement and on-site event management.

The challenge

United Imaging aimed to bring together its European partner network to:

• Align on the strategic vision for 2026
• Strengthen relationships with partners across Europe
• Provide product sales training across multiple imaging modalities
• Facilitate collaboration, knowledge exchange and networking

The event needed to combine strategy, training, and relationship building in a professional international setting, while coordinating participants from multiple European countries.

Our approach

Philogirl developed and delivered the complete event framework, ensuring consistency across logistics, communication and participant experience.

Programme development

We designed a four-day programme combining strategy sessions, product training and interactive workshops. Sessions included:

• Vision and strategy for United Imaging Healthcare Europe
• Product sales training for MI, CT, MRI, XR and uAI solutions
• Workshops supporting partner performance and commercial growth
• Sessions highlighting the role of imaging technology in high-quality and accessible healthcare

• Table planning and placement cards for guests
• Coordination of live entertainment, including a DJ, pianist and vocal performers
• Atmosphere and flow of the evening programme
• Design of clothing of the Queen of the evening Gona Aziz 

The gala dinner created a celebratory and memorable moment within the event, recognising partner performance and strengthening relationships within the European network.

International communication

Because partners joined from across Europe, clear communication was essential. Philogirl developed and managed the communication around the event, including:

• Creation of the official event invitations and reminders
• Registration communication and partner updates
• Programme information and practical updates
• Coordination with the United Imaging European leadership team

All communication was delivered in English to ensure accessibility for the international audience.

Event report

Hoe zorg je dat professionals die al jarenlang werken aan het voorkomen van valincidenten bij 65+ers, voorbij de dag van vandaag durven te dromen? Gemeente Rotterdam vroeg Philogirl een interactieve werksessie te ontwikkelen en te faciliteren over de Toekomst van de Rotterdamse Valpreventie. Voor de deelnemers – fysiotherapeuten, welzijnsmedewerkers, beleidsmakers en meer – ontwikkelden we een 45-minuten durende interactieve Future Thinking sessie rond één centrale vraag: “Hoe ziet de toekomst eruit… en welke rol speel ík daarin?”

Vanuit die vraag namen we de deelnemers mee op een reis: van een vergezicht naar 2080, via een kronkelende tijdlijn vol mijlpalen terug naar het nu, en uiteindelijk naar één concrete actie die ze de volgende ochtend al konden zetten.

Deelnemers werkten in diverse werksessies aan oplossingsrichtingen rondom thema’s als gezondheidsverschillen, stedelijke inrichting, arbeidsbesparende technologie in de zorg, verduurzaming van ziekenhuizen, financiering van zorginnovaties, biotechnologie en gezond voedsel. 

De inzichten uit de sessies over welke acties de meeste impact kunnen maken, werden plenair gedeeld en symbolisch aangeboden aan gedeputeerde Mariëtte van Leeuwen van de Provincie Zuid-Holland, in de vorm van puzzelstukken.
